The Seasonal Brewing Company – Maylands

Opening in September 2019, The Seasonal Brewing Company is a 300-person, pet friendly, brewery and dining hall located in a 100 year old mechanics warehouse.

Located only 10 minutes from the city in Maylands, the venue is the brainchild of locals Nicholas Southwell, partner Emily ten Raa, and hospitality veteran Michael Cheang of Frisk Small Bar and Alfred’s Pizzeria.

True to their name, Seasonal is committed to regular rotation of their 20 x tap lineup, and introduction of new seasonal releases. The main bar pours both in-house & guest brewed beers, along with cocktails & wines. Unfortunately, due to an interesting twist with their Producers liquor licence (courtesy of their neighbours) if you wish to drink a guest beer, you’re required to have meal with your brew (which is not the case with for their in-house beers).

The fit out is typical of what you’d expect of a working brewery. Out the back is the full set of brew-quipment, up front there’s long timber benches, booths & tables. There is ample outdoor seating at the front, where kids & dogs can roam free.

Chef Danny Matthews has done an excellent job in covering all bases on the menu. Including delicious house made pies (that use Seasonal wort), Berkshire Pork Belly, Reuben Croquettes, Shark Bay Tiger Prawns, and a range of tasty burgers.

If that wasn’t enough for you, Seasonal recently took out the Number Two place in Beer & Brewer Magazines 2021 Top 10 Brewpubs in Australia – with the team lauding the venue as “Such a well considered place, with all its moving parts oiled and working in tandem – from the beer selection through to the staff, the atmosphere and the food to boot.
