Ruinbar – Northbridge
Opening its doors in January 2022. Ruinbar is an independent beer-focused venue, that takes its namesake from both the state of the original dilapidated Heritage building that houses the bar. As well as paying homage to the lo-fi Eastern European bars that reside in run-down, squatter inhabited, abandoned buildings.
Located on the North Eastern edge of Northbridge (opposite Weld Square). Ruinbar sports 18 x rotating taps, with 6 x of these dedicated to West Australian brewers, along with a monthly featured brewery.
The interior of the bar consists of two open plan spaces, with bench & regular tables, low intimate booths. Outside you’ll find a large, covered outdoor, with lashing of bench seating. A large wrap around bar servicing both the interior and exterior areas.
With a career spanning over 25 years, Ruinbar owner Miles Hull certainly has the operational minerals to know what constitutes a great venue. With formal Swiss hospitality school training, complemented by stints with Canadian brewer Steamworks, Little Creatures, White Rabbit, Gage Roads, WA State Buildings, the Alex Hotel, and Quarter Acre.
“Ruinbar is about showcasing great beer. Mostly craft beer, but beer in general. We don’t want to be snobby. If you come in and you’ve got a mild interest in beer, we’ll have a beer for you. If you come in and you’ve got a serious interest in beer, then we’ve also got a beer for you – Miles Hull”
Whilst Ruin doesn’t have a kitchen, on Friday nights and weekends, alternating food trucks set up shop in the outside courtyard to keep the tummy rumbles at bay. If you’re not a fan of the food trucks, Ruin are happy for you to order an outside food delivery, or bring take-away from any of the nearby restaurants.
